Book Launch “Legal Empowerment: Practitioners' Perspectives” on 25 June 2010 in New York.
The United Nations University Office at the UN, New York (UNU-ONY) is organizing a book launch event called “Legal Empowerment: Practitioners’ Perspectives,” on Friday 25 June, 2010. The event will be held from 1:15 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Conference Room D, Temporary North Lawn Building (TNLB), UN Headquarters, New York . A collection of articles, the book provides approaches to integrating justice and development in ways that benefit the poor and marginalized peoples. Part of International Development Law Organization's (IDLO) book series entitled "Lessons Learned: Narrative Accounts of Legal Reform in Developing and Transition Countries," the book is edited by Stephen Golub.
The panellists at the event will include Thomas F. McInerney , Director of Research, Policy, and Strategic Initiatives, IDLO; Stephen Golub, Editor, IDLO Legal Empowerment Working Paper Series and Adjunct Professor, Berkeley Law School and Central European University; Nina Berg, Rule of Law and Justice Policy Adviser, UNDP Bureau for Development Policy, Democratic Governance Group; Massimo Tommasoli, Permanent Observer, Office of the Permanent Observer for the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance.
