United Nations Tweet-a-Thon on the Rule of Law
On Tuesday, September 18th, OHCHR , UN WOMEN, UNICEF, UN Department for Political Affairs, UNDP, UNODC, UN Office of Legal Affairs, UN Peacekeeping, UNHCR as well as other UN entities and staff around the world will joined forces to highlight one of the core values of the United Nations as the General Assembly opens its 67th Session – building peace through the rule of law. For two hours before the annual gathering of world leaders in New York opened, UN staffers will issued live tweets and interacted with Twitter users around the globe to raise awareness of the UN’s work to build justice and security around the world.
The first High-Level Meeting of the General Assembly dedicated solely to the rule of law will take place on September 24. It builds on the discussions at the 2005 World Summit, which recognized the rule of law as a universal core value of the United Nations.The conversation on Twitter under the hashtag #Rol4Peace will continue up until the High-level Meeting and beyond.
