Book Launch Event on 18 June 2010: “United Nations Justice: Legal and Judicial Reform in Governance Operations”
On 18 June 2010 the United Nations University (UNU) Office at the UN, New York is organizing a book launch event: “United Nations Justice: Legal and Judicial Reform in Governance Operations,” as part of the UNU Worldwide in New York Series. The mandate of the UNU calls upon it to showcase recent works published by the UNU Research and Training Centers/Programmes from around the world. In partnership with outside experts, UNU researchers share new ideas and policy avenues in the areas of security, environment and development.
The book launch will take place from 1:15 to 2:30 p.m. in Conference Room D, Temporary North Law Building , UN Headquarters, New York . The featured speakers at the event will be Calin Trenkov-Wermuth , Adjunct Professor at New York University's Department of Politics in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences; Catlin Reiger , Adjunct Professor at New York University's Centre for Global Affairs in the School of Continuing and Professional Studies; and Edward C. Luck , Senior Vice President for Research and Programmes at the International Peace Institute and Special Adviser to the UN Secretary-General. The event will be moderated by Jean-Marc Coicaud , Director of the UNU office at the UN, New York .
Written by Calin Trenkov-Wermuth and published by the UNU Press in 2010, the book gives a holistic overview of the initiatives undertaken by the United Nations in the administration of justice in governance operations. The book gives recommendations on methods that can be employed to improve the administration of justice. The target audience for the book includes academics and practitioners from such disciplines as international law, ethics and applied philosophy, transitional justice and political science.
